After the rather deep last post, I thought I’d go for something a bit more lighthearted this time around.
I wanted to talk about two trends this spring that I either straight up love or that has evoked memories for me.
First of all, we have the colour YELLOW. It is literally everywhere this season and I totally love it, my favourite shade is definitely mustardy yellow and I find it soooo flattering, especially if you’re a woman of colour or have a nice tan. Can I just say though, having loved yellow for a while now, I have spent many a summer day in the past running away from bees and wasps – yeah yeah, I know you shouldn’t run from them – but I can’t help it.I can confidently say that I’m not a huge fan of that aspect of wearing it, however, you know us fashion lovers, anything for the perfect outfit right?
One big pro of this trend and colour trends, in general, is that you can be on trend without breaking the bank. All you have to do is just find a way to incorporate this colour into your wardrobe, either with accessories or even with a t-shirt (like I’ve done with this outfit). My t-shirt (which is actually a body) is from Zara and I love it so much and will definitely be wearing it a lot this season. I would definitely encourage you to give it a go, especially if you’ve been afraid of wearing colour before now. It’s a new season, try something different and it just might put a spring in your step – see what I did there?- haha, yep I make silly jokes.
Ooookay, moving on to the next trend that has been raging everywhere, like wildfire, it is the CHECK PRINT. When I first saw this trend, I must confess I had mixed feelings towards it. On the one hand, I thought it looked really cool and was a fresher take on the whole tartan vibe. On the other hand, it definitely reminded me of the day dresses that I used to wear in boarding school – a time which I do not wish to recreate, thank you very much. So, for a while, I just watched people look really cool in this print, whilst allowing my school memories to hold me bondage. One day, I saw it again on one my favourite bloggers’ Sophie Milner page. It was this beautiful skirt from River Island and I knew that I had to have it so I placed the order there and then.
It arrived and I was so happy with it – even though for a while there it was touch and go whether it would actually fit. If you want an insight into how that affected my confidence, look at this post. Anyway, I eventually made it work and I loved it so much that I decided to pair these two trend pieces together and I really enjoyed the outfit. It’s such an epic feeling when you take a little styling gamble and love the results. Soooo, there you go, these are two of my favourite trends at the moment. I think I might even go a bit further and get a check coat, what do you think? Shall I do it? It just feels like something which will add a little VA- VA- VOOM to my usual boring work clothes. Well, if you want to know what I decide, keep an eye on my Instagram (which is linked down below) because I’ll be featuring it on there if I do give in to this desire *inserts eyes emoji here*.
There a few more styles and trends which I’m loving but I’ll probably address those in the future. I can only say that I’m really excited about fashion once again and look forward to experimenting with my style a lot more this year. I hope I’ve inspired some of you to give something new a go. What are some of your favourite trends this spring? Let me know in the comments below, maybe you’ll inspire me too.
Thank you for reading and until next time,
